Membership Classification & Dues Structure

Below is a list of the various types of membership categories that are available through the San Bernardino County Medical Society (SBCMS), the California Medical Association(CMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA). Membership in the California Medical Association is a requirement for membership in the San Bernardino County Medical Society. The American Medical Association is optional, but recommended.

You will be billed for the appropriate dues classification by the Medical Society once your application is received. The dues structure below is provided for your information.

Regular status is for all full-time practicing physicians who hold the degree of doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy.$370 $545 $420
First Time New Member: This status is for those physicians who apply for membership for the first time. This is a one-time 50 percent reduction in dues for the first year only. The second year of membership is discounted 25%. $185 $273 $420
Government Employee: This status is for those physicians who are: 1) commissioned officers on active duty, or 2) full-time employees of any governmental agency.$185 $273 $420
House Officer: The physician must be an Intern, Resident, or Fellow at a facility located in San Bernardino County.$15$35$45
Medical Student: Must be an enrolled student at Loma Linda University School of Medicine or Western University (College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific.)$20$20$68
65 + Years of Age: Members who are 65 years of age (or older) are eligible for half dues, IF THEY WORK 20 HOURS OR LESS PER WEEK.$185 $273 $210
Postgraduate Leave of Absence: The physician must plan to be absent from practice for at least six months and request this status in writing. Leave of Absence will not exceed one year, but shall be subject to renewal upon written request.$185 $273 $420
Illness Leave of Absence: This status must be requested in writing and like the Postgraduate Leave of Absence will not exceed one year and is subject to renewal upon written request.exemptexemptexempt
Retired Membership: The physician must request this status in writing. Retired membership may be granted to those members who have ceased the practice of medicine.exemptexempt$84
