2008/2009 MRC COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

Logistics & Supplies
Chair: Chad Cossey, EMT-1


  • Inventory existing equipment and supplies in MRC Cargo Trailer.
  • Assure operability of existing equipment.
  • Organize equipment and supplies into vests and packs to be used when volunteers are deployed.
  • Identify and recommend additional MRC equipment and supply needs.
  • Identify and evaluate sources for supplies.
   

Volunteer Development & Training
Chair: Brenda Brennan, RN

  • Identify and mandate general and targeted training assignments for MRC volunteers.
  • Identify educational topics and speakers for monthly Unit meetings.
  • Conduct training exercises as directed by Executive Committee.
   

Development of Operations
Chair: Aaron Rubin, MD

 

  • Develop plan of deployment and demobilization.
  • Describe 5-10 examples of types of deployments.
  • Identify size and configuration of response teams for each type of deployment.
  • Identify knowledge and skills required for each type of deployment.
  • Create team roles for 25 named volunteers.
   

Recruitment & Orientation

  • Identify organizations, educational institutions and workplaces which are likely to be sources for volunteer recruitment.
  • Develop mailing campaign including content of letters and attached materials.
  • Develop audiovisual presentation(s) for use in recruitment.
  • Organize volunteers to represent MRC in recruitment meetings or presentation.
  • Recruit additional 50 new active volunteers for total of 150 active volunteers by December 31, 2008.
   

Media & Communications
Chair: Linda Stratton

 

  • Develop MRC quarterly newsletter (include current MRC activities, update on volunteers)
  • MRC Brochure.
  • Update internet communications
  • Identify key collaborative partners and include in newsletter distribution.
   

Fundraising, Grants and Public Relations
Co-Chair: Nabil Razzouk, PhD
Co-Chair: Frank Randolph, MD


  • Identify sources of funding and support for MRC.
  • Collaborate with MMRS to obtain MRC related funding support.
  • Develop mailing campaign including content of letters and attached materials.
  • Develop audiovisual presentation for use in fundraising.
  • Organize volunteers to represent MRC in meetings or presentation to potential donors.
  • Raise $50,000 per year.
