IMQ offers consulting services for hospital medical staffs

After 40 years of partnership, the Joint Commission has, effective April 30, 2016, terminated its joint survey program with the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ), a subsidiary of the California Medical Association (CMA). Although this is a huge blow to California medical staffs, IMQ continues to offer valuable hospital consulting services, including assistance for hospitals preparing for licensure and accreditation surveys. IMQ's CME certification reporting process upgraded

The Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ), a subsidiary of the California Medical Association, has upgraded its continuing medical education (CME) certification reporting process so physicians can report all of their CME activities online 24/7. The new service also gives physicians the ability to pay online for CME certification, as well as to view and print an official transcript of activities at any time. IMQ offers free online training course on child abuse and neglect

Over 1.5 million children in California suffer at least two instances of childhood abuse and neglect, according to a report by the nonprofit Children Now. There has also been a 3 percent increase in abuse nationally, according to a new report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Joint hospital survey program cancelled

After 40 years of partnership, the Joint Commission is terminating its agreement with the California Medical Association's Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ). IMQ will, however, offer expanded consulting services for hospitals, which may include mock surveys and/or survey preparedness. Medical staffs will be able to request an IMQ consultant separate from any hospital survey. Thanks to a grant from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, the California Medical Association’s Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) is offering a free course on child abuse prevention, recognition and reporting. The course is designed for California physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who regularly or occasionally treat pediatric patients. To help address serious issues related to the misuse of prescription opioids, the California Medical Association’s Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) is offering mini-grants to organizations that wish to offer U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved opioid training for physicians, pharmacists and other health care providers.
