2018 palliative care summit accepting breakout session proposals

The Coalition for Compassionate Care of California and the Children's Hospice & Palliative Care Coalition Now are now accepting breakout session proposals for their 10th annual summit, "Better Together: Forging a path to person-centered care," which will take place April 10-11, 2018, in Anaheim. Proposals must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017. The summit is designed for physicians, nurses, social workers, nursing home administrators, chaplains, patients and consumers who are interested in palliative care best practices, quality and policy. UC Davis offers free course in palliative care on June 25

Health care professionals from all specialties are invited to participate in a Palliative Care Mini Medical School, hosted by UC Davis on June 25 in Sacramento. This half-day course will be moderated by Fred Meyers, M.D., who helped establish the UC Davis Hospice Program, and will feature additional palliative care specialists, oncologists, social workers and more. CSU and palliative care coalition launch eduction programs on advance care planning and billing

In response to the nation’s growing demand for physicians trained in advance care planning conversations, the California State University Institute for Palliative Care has partnered with the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California to co-design a comprehensive continuing education curriculum for health care professionals. New this year, Medicare providers can be reimbursed for advance care planning conversations with patients.
