President's Message from Michael A. Sequeira, M.D., F.A.C.E.P.

April 2017

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

One of my top priorities when I became President of SBCMS in 2016 was to move forward with development of an updated Strategic Plan. I'm excited to let you know that our medical society has completed this process, and we're delighted to unveil the final result!

Our planning process took 15 months from start to finish, with the expert guidance of facilitator Ronald Stewart, Ph.D. and a committee of 22 physicians. With generous support to underwrite the process from IEHP, we held a series of meetings that progressed from brainstorming, to discussion of issues, to final priority setting. We explored the role of our society in the context of the lives and livelihoods of our physicians and medical professionals. And, we maintained a close alliance with the CMA for the purpose of streamlining our missions, maximizing marketing impact, and non-duplication of efforts. Focus groups and a membership-wide assessment survey along the way inched us closer to our final iteration.

I am very proud of the final 2017-19 Strategic Plan, which is now available to review here.

Our intent is to make this a living, breathing document which reflects changes in goals and time lines as our priorities and needs evolve over the next one to three years. Our SBCMS staff is tasked with carrying out the various goals and objectives outlined in the plan and providing updates on progress and projects.

We appreciate your support and encouragement as we have worked together to create an organic set of guidelines that reflects the priorities and personality of our medical society and the members - all of you - who make it what it is.
