Registration now open for IMQ 2015 Medical Staff Conference

The California Medical Association's Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) has opened registration for its annual Medical Staff Conference, to be held October 29 at Embassy Suites Hotel near LAX.

At the conference, attendees will discover solutions and best practices that physicians need to successfully lead their medical staffs. The conference will answer questions about tackling difficult decisions that face medical staffs, such as granting privileges for aging physicians and those reentering practice after an absence.

Through examples and discussion, the faculty will demonstrate how, by maintaining a focus on quality and safe patient care, they can best position the medical staff to collaborate with administrators and the governing body on strategic initiatives; to effectively implement and use electronic health records; and to modernize quality improvement and peer review systems.

This event will also provide an update on Joint Commission standards and discuss those standards for which facilities are most often found noncompliant. The program will also include an update from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s Region IX chief medical officer, Nancy Fisher, M.D., on the department’s initiatives related to patient safety, quality reporting and electronic health record usage. The conference has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 creditTM and BRN CE credit. NAMSS credit has been applied for and approval is pending.
