The Nominating Committee met on January 8, 2001 at 6 p.m. Members in attendance were: Doctors Kenneth Lane, Jeannette Benjamin, Dev Gnanadev, Edward Hess, Michael Sequeira, Victor Ching, Robert Bourne, Burton Briggs, Manmohan Nayyar, Stewart Shankel, Jay Shankar and Executive Director Linda Stratton.

The following represents the actions of the committee:

NOMINATION OF OFFICERS:

(One-Year Term, 2001-2002)

President: Jay Shankar, M.D.

President-Elect: Frank Randolph, MD

Vice President: Samuel Wilson, M.D.

Secretary: Edward Hess, M.D.

Treasurer: James Bartley, M.D. (declined)

Past President: Dev Gnanadev, M.D.

NOMINATION FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS:

(Two-Year Terms, 2001-2003)

District 1: Manmohan Nayyar, M.D., two-year term (2001-2003), replacing himself.

District 2: Phil Carney, MD, two-year term (2001-2003), replacing Edward Hess, MD who moved to Secretary.

District 3: Lisa Perry-Gilkes, M.D., two-year term (2001-2003), replacing herself.

District 5: Dennis Flynn, MD, two-year term (2001-2003), replacing Stewart Shankel, M.D., whose term expired and who is retiring.

At Large: Ruchir Sehra, MD, one-year term (2001-2002) filling the unexpired term of Steven Wilson, MD who resigned from his board seat.

NOMINATIONS FOR REPRESENTATIVES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS (One Year Term, 1999-2000)

Young Physician Representative:

Rodney Borger, MD, one-year term (2001-2002) replacing Ruchir Sehra, MD who moved to the At Large seat.

House Officer Representative:

Theresa Siefken, DO, Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, 2001-2002 House Officer Board seat.

The Nominating Committee recommends that it be stressed to ARMC, LLUMC and KAISER the importance of the house officer who accepts the SBCMS board seat to attend meetings on a regular basis. Also, that house officer board representatives be chosen from current SBCMS house officer members.

Student Representative:

Shelley A. Caltharp, Loma Linda University School of Medicine, 2001-2002 Student Board seat.

Public Health Officer:

Thomas J. Prendergast, Jr., MD, one-year term (2001-2002), replacing himself.

Ex-Officio Emeritus

Gebre Gobezie, MD, one-year term (2001-2002), replacing himself.

NOMINATIONS FOR CMA DELEGATES

(Three year term, 2001-2003)

District 3: Conrad Salinas, M.D., one-year term (2001-2002), replacing Thelma Korpman, M.D., who was reassigned to an At Large Delegate seat.

At Large: Thelma Korpman, MD three-year term (2001-2004), replacing Conrad Salinas, M.D., who was reassigned to a District 3 Delegate seat.

 

NOMINATIONS FOR CMA ALTERNATE DELEGATES

District 1: Manmohan Nayyar, M.D., three-year term (2001-2004), replacing himself.

District 3: Jonathan Horstmann, MD, two-year term (2001-2003), filling the vacant District 3 Alternate Delegate position.

District 4: Antonio Robles, MD, three-year term (2001-2004), replacing himself.

District 4: John Testerman, MD, three-year term (2001-2004), replacing himself

At Large: Jay Shankar, MD, two-year term (2001-2003), filling the unexpired term of David Hinshaw, Jr., MD who resigned his Alternate Delegate position.

The Nominating Committee recommends that candidates for the Nominating Committee be carefully selected in an effort to eliminate conflict of interest issues, i.e. when a member of the Nominating Committee is recommended as an officer of SBCMS.

There being no further business the Nominating Committee adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
