There is currently a heightened liability risk in the areas of elder abuse and pain management. CMA has addressed this issue in a recent memorandum on Elder Abuse. For a copy, call SBCMS at (909) 825-6526. Also, make sure that you know the latest laws on intractable pain management and the Patient Self-Determination Act. To protect the public from the spread of infections, contagious and communicable diseases, physicians are required by law to report such diseases to the local health officer.
