San Bernardino County Medical Society
2003 Outstanding Citizen Award

presented to

Temetry Lindsey, Ph.D.

This twenty sixth-day of June, in the year two thousand three

Temetry Lindsey has dedicated her career to improving the health of the underserved in San Bernardino and Riverside County. It is the Medical Society's honor to recognize her tonight as a tireless worker for the underserved patients in our community.

Temetry is the President and CEO of Inland Behavioral and Health Services located on E Street in San Bernardino. IBHS is a 25-year-old nonprofit. Under her leadership, IBHS operates a 13,500 square foot clinic with three doctors and one physician assistant. The clinic also offers drug and alcohol rehabilitation, dental and mental health services, with a strong homeless support program. Temetry recognized that San Bernardino's Westside community did not have access to local, affordable healthcare and responded by bringing back the Whitney Young Clinic, a much-needed facility that serves the needs of a grateful community. Westside mothers and children now have healthcare without having to take two or three bus connections to other parts of the city.

In an effort to bring more health care to the city's uninsured, IBHS will soon build a new clinic in the downtown core. A $5.5 million, 28,500 square foot building at the southeast corner of Seventh and D streets. The clinic will have urgent care, primary, dental and reproductive care, as well as a pharmacy and health education classrooms. The clinic will provide care to anyone, even those unable to pay.

Ms. Lindsey is an African American health care advocate. Her commitment to improving the health of the African American population in the Inland Empire is evidenced by her participation in and leadership of the African American Health Initiative where she has served as a member of the Executive Committee since 1999.

For her years of dedicated service to her community, and for epitomizing a caring and dedicated citizen who works for the benefits of others, we are pleased to present the 2003 SBCMS Outstanding Citizen Award to Temetry Lindsey.

J. Frank Randolph, M.D.
President
