Health Care Reform Letter to Speaker Pelosi and Members of the California Congressional Delegation

3/20/2010 - The California Medical Association Board of Trustees has adopted a support position on parts of the health care reform legislation and an oppose position on other provisions. CMA supports expansion of insurance coverage, ending insurance company abuses, and increasing access to Medicare and Medicaid primary care physicians.  CMA opposes the bill that does little to improve overall access to doctors, opposes creation of an unaccountable Independent Medicare Payment Advisory Board (IPAB); and fails to repeal the Medicare SGR payment formula that is slated to cut doctor reimbursements by 40% over the next several years. SBCMS Leaders Meet with Congressional Representatives

In early March a delegation of CMA physicians attended the AMA National Advocacy Conference (NAC) and personnally met with members of Congress or their staff.
