Last fall, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services experienced some editing issues with new patient evaluation and management (E&M) codes that resulted in incorrect claim denials. These issues began in October 2013, and were thought to have been corrected in late January 2014. Noridian offering webinars for practices

Noridian, the Medicare Administrative Contractor for California, has scheduled a series of one-hour webinars during the month of August. Topics include common errors, global surgery and a series of three webinars titled “Climbing The Ladder To Success.” (For details on each workshop, click on the title.) Continuing education units are offered for most workshops.  

Medicare ICD-10 front-end testing week extended

Due to the success of the first week of ICD-10 testing, Noridian has partnered with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to continue acceptance testing for EDI submitters and vendors for an indefinite period.   The purpose of acceptance testing is to ensure that base system functionality and front end editing have been updated for ICD-10 and are functioning correctly. Noridian sends out another wave of Medicare revalidation requests

As called for under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) have been requiring physicians to revalidate their Medicare enrollments. Between now and March 23, 2015, MACs will continue reaching out to physicians, notifying them of the need to revalidate. The most recent round of revalidations requests went out by December 30, 2013.   The revalidation requirement is necessitated by new screening criteria called for under the ACA. Medicare transition update

September 16, 2013, marked the transition to the new Medicare Administrative Contractor, Noridian. In the first few days, the California Medical Association (CMA) heard about only minor problems with technology, including phone systems that went up and went down, a few issues with the online provider service tool and problems with printing of -PDF files from the Noridian website. Learn about Noridian's Provider Portal, Endeavor

One of the frequently asked questions on the Medicare transition is whether or not Noridian has a product similar to Palmetto’s Online Provider Services (OPS) portal. Noridian does have a similar provider portal called Endeavor. Noridian is conducting web-based workshops on Endeavor.
