Reminder: Deadline to register for CURES is July 1, 2016

Under California law, all individuals practicing in California who possess both a state regulatory board license authorized to prescribe, dispense, furnish or order controlled substances and a Drug Enforcement Administration Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (DEA Certificate) must register to use the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) by July 1, 2016. CMS to hold webinars for providers on updates to the Physician Compare website

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will host a series of one-hour webinars about recent updates to the Physician Compare website and future plans for public reporting, including benchmark and star ratings. The Affordable Care Act required CMS to create a website that would allow consumers to search for and compare physicians and other health care professionals who provide Medicare services. CMA to relaunch webinar program; first program on meaningful use scheduled for Jan. 13

Beginning in January, the California Medical Association (CMA) will relaunch its full webinar program, featuring two to three subjects each month. Geared toward both physicians and their staff, the topics will range from everyday practice management—including contracting with payors, claims and reimbursement, and customer service—to timely issues such as MACRA, meaningful use, CMA governance and HIPAA compliance, among many others. United Healthcare to host webinars about its Premium Designation Program for contracted physicians

At the request of the California Medical Association, United Healthcare (UHC) is inviting physicians and practice administrators to attend a special webinar presentation about its Premium Designation program in California. The webinars will be offered in mid-November and will provide an overview on the background and methodologies of the Premium Designation program and allow physicians an opportunity to ask specific questions they may have. CMS offering webcasts on ICD-10 clinical documentation requirements

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering a series of webcasts for small physician practices regarding clinical documentation requirements instituted for the transition to ICD-10. Available webcasts in the ICD-10 Documentation and Coding Concepts series include orthopedics, cardiology, pediatrics, obstetric and gynecology, and family practice and internal medicine. Noridian offering webinars for practices

Noridian, the Medicare Administrative Contractor for California, has scheduled a series of one-hour webinars during the month of August. Topics include common errors, global surgery and a series of three webinars titled “Climbing The Ladder To Success.” (For details on each workshop, click on the title.) Anthem Blue Cross to host webinars on its exchange products

Anthem Blue Cross is inviting physicians to attend a series of special one-hour presentations about their products being offered under Covered California, the state's health benefit exchange.
