IMQ's Stepping Up to Leadership early-bird pricing ends Feb.

Early-bird pricing for the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) Stepping Up to Leadership conference ends February 9. The program, offered in conjunction with the University of California at San Diego PACE Program, is a practical hands-on training for medical staff leaders.

The 2016 Stepping Up to Leadership program, widely recognized as the “go to” course for acquiring knowledge and skills to successfully lead a medical staff, will take place March 10-11 in San Diego.

The conference offers unique hands-on and interactive learning opportunities, as well as excellent faculty and course work on effective staff leadership, communication, problem-solving, handling disruptive or impaired professionals, effective meeting management, and improving outcomes for patients and staff.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Physicians Foundation, this course is offered at prices significantly lower than other courses of this caliber.

New this year is a session on how to develop a policy for aging physicians on your medical staff. Lorne Label, M.D., a frequent faculty member of IMQ's educational programs, will offer insight and his experiences in developing and implementing policies for the aging physician. His presentation will include case examples as well as sample policies that he has implemented in his hospital.

The course also will teach collaboration and team building between the hospital and medical staff, how to minimize stress and avoid burnout, and a legal update on current issues of importance to California physicians. This program is a great opportunity for individuals new to leadership positions to network with colleagues and enhance the practical skills you need to succeed.
